As a singular force in Chinese fashion, Chen blends culture with couture and now ready-to-wear and menswear. Grace Chen's creative dichotomy began as a child she when blended her love for Chinese calligraphy and American rock-n-roll. She studied at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York and then designed evening wear for 15 years in New York and Hollywood before returning to Shanghai in 2009 to establish her own eponymous couture brand.
An auteur of couture craftsmanship and East-West aesthetics, Grace Chen acts as a cultural ambassador, she champions fashion diplomacy and the impact of soft power. Her ‘Fashion Travel’ series has taken her collections, clients and inspirations from Monaco to Kenya, Kyoto to Cairo, Mexico City to London, Washington and New York.
